In the Fourth Quarter…

That’s where we are in terms of the calendar year. We’re in the early part of the 4th Quarter of 2011. November is NaNoWriMo, (National Novel Writing Month) when writers from around the world, of all ages, nationalities and proclivities, will commit to writing 50,000 words during the month of November.  Yes, you read that right.

It’s a terrific adventure and exercise and last year, for the FIRST time, under the pseudonym of Lynn Kathleen, my writing partner and I finished the rough draft of our novel, “Merciful Blessings,” which we are editing now. I encourage you to join up (it is free, though donations towards programs are accepted all year long) and get your current book down on paper.  JJ and I are going to write the draft of the second book in the series, “Faithfully Yours” during THIS Nanowrimo. We’re getting started by identifying this book’s villain, turning points, and secondary characters. Come November first, we will be writing every free moment that we can scratch together. Hope you’ll join us and of course, let me know how you do with your own project!!

Another Fourth Quarter event is the launch of our Rogues Gallery Writers novel project, The Method Writers. The novel is just about done, but there is of course, much more to do. And, so we have put our project on and are seeking donations to support us in the editing, publishing and marketing/promoting work that still must be done. The novel is unique in that 4 authors have written 4 short novels and woven them together like a quilt, to create a fast paced, humorous and entertaining novel that reads as tight as a short story, but has the depth and length of a short novel (approx 225 pages.) Visit us at and become part of our Rogues family! Sign up to support us at whatever level you can – and get a terrific reward for your support!!

It may be October, and it may be the Fourth Quarter. But it’s never too late – to finish that book of your heart, repair that relationship that you miss, or support others in the world who are kindred spirits.

Have a blessed week and if you do Nanowrimo, or become a sponsor at Method Writers, be sure to let us all know!!!

The fourth quarter seems especially fitting now that football season is finally upon us!! I’m thinking I’ll need to participate in this year’s Nanowrimo if I’m to finish the first draft of “Before the Crush” by the end of the year. Great post!

  2. Congratulations on finishing the first draft of “Merciful Blessings,” and good luck with your writing during this Namowrimo! 50,000 words IS a lot :). Also, I love the idea of The Method Writers.

Thank you for the congrats and well wishes. The thing that was most powerful about it was the support structure to just write, write, write, despite all the reasons why I “should” be doing something else. I highly recommend it, whether project is a novel or another type of work. We get permission to put reasonable (for those like me who do reasonable too often) aside and accomplish unreasonable things. LOL.

Be well in your travels and stop in often – I’m keeping up with yours weekly. Glad you like the Rogues project. It is another place we don’t get to be reasonable…
