Okay – many of you have seen this before, but PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO WRITERS DIGEST! The information is just mind-boggling, relevant and timely. And in one place. I read a lot of industry stuff to even catch a glimpse of some of these things – and the WD puts them all in one handy place! So, just in case you haven’t gotten to read yours yet, there’s a great article in the current issue (Page 26 – “Success Stories in Self Promotion”, compiled by Jessica Strauser and Tiffany Luckey) about what worked really well in terms of marketing, for successful (sales greater than 10,000 copies) indie published authors. While fiction and non-fiction tactics varied some, and so did genre approaches, ONE THING seemed to be a common thread: Getting quality, honest reviews done for their books.
Listen – hundreds of thousands of books are being “published” every year. The things that ensure good sales for a book – indie published or not – are that it’s a great, well written and edited book, and that people know it’s a book they shouldn’t miss reading.
